Dressed to impress with a little card about our partnership with the Music Empowers Foundation, these snack-size bags were sent on a 1-way trip to LA. Don’t be surprised if you see your favorite musician munching away during the awards…it’s addictive! (Good thing it’s healthy so those dresses will still fit!)

Today officially marked the start of my annual walk down Grateful Dead memory lane. Inevitably a few days before Jerry’s birthday of August 1st (he would be 68 this Sunday) and untimely passing on August 9th, 1995 (has it really been 15 years?) I allow myself to reflect on the show experiences and simultaneously dig just a little bit deeper into the lyrics of some of my favorite Jerry songs. Like every Grateful Dead fan it never ceases to amaze me how you can hear a song 1000 times and then hear it again for what seems like the first. Today started with “He’s Gone”, and specifically the lyrics “Nine- mile skid on a ten- mile ride Hot as a pistol but cool inside Cat on a tin roof Dogs in a pile, nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile” How many times did I see Jerry sing that tune at a stadium show in his token black t-shirt and wind blown gray hair? The audience would hang on those three words smile, smile, smile and relish in watching Jerry reveal a road weary but heartfelt grin…

“Now He’s gone

Lord, he’s gone

Like a steam locomotive

rolling down the track

He’s gone

He’s gone

and nothing’s gonna bring him back

He’s gone….

I was in the commercial kitchen this morning producing Groovin’ on Granola and spent some time reading the ingredient labels on my bulk bags of raw materials.

Don’t get me wrong I have always been well aware of what ingredients I use but I hadn’t taken the time to see EXACTLY where they came from.

I discovered that I use “Mountain High” Organic Golden Flax, Rolled Oats milled in Eugene, Oregon, Raw Green Pepitas (Pumpkin seeds) from Santa Cruz, California, Gluten free Vanila Extract from Madagascar, Grapeseed Oil from Portugal, and Texas Wildflower honey.

That’s when I realized Groovin’ on Granola’s is Truly Groovin’ .

Peace
